CHRONIC TONIC posts on Thursdays at 9 p.m. EST, it is a place to share stories, advice, and information and to connect with others with chronic health conditions and those who care for them. Our diarists will report on research, alternative treatments, clinical trials, and health insurance issues through personal stories. You are invited to share in comments (and note if you'd like to be a future diarist).

Trouble. I guess it's no secret that I've been having some. Trouble dealing with my stressful living situation, the effect that's having on my health and my ability to ward off the depression that is always hovering.
Now, I don't know about anybody else, but at times like these I find solace in music. I just crank up the volume and sing along, sing my fool heart out, it helps me get it out there...vent.
That's a John Prine tune. While I usually prefer to hear him perform his own work, in this case, Bonnie's version does it for me.
Just a great performance of a heartbreakingly beautiful tune. John Cale sings Leonard Cohen. I read that Cohen thinks the tune could benefit from a break in exposure. That may be true, but it won't start in my house.
Finally, I'll leave you with this tune from Tori Amos...
Yeah, I know it seems morose, but it really does help. What about you? What helps you when you've got trouble?
Please note in comments your interest in being a diarist. (We will happily format your diary for you, including links and pix!)
